i just had an appendectomy. when can i start lifting weights or going back to the gym? or start jogging?
i was advised by some friends who also underwent appendectomy in the past that they waited 6 months before going back to the gym. thanks in advance.
The type of recovery you are asking about depends on the type of incision made during the surgery. If you had a laparscopic surgery, with a couple of small incisions, the recovery time is greatly reduced. If you had an exploratory laparscopic surgery, with a large incision in the middle of your belly, then that will take much longer to completely heal. It mostly has to do with the muscle layers cut thru and as you can imagine, the larger the incision, the more healing that has to take place. The best person to ask is your surgeon. If you don't have another appt with them, then you can just call their office and they can tell you what the standard time is for your type of surgery.
