Let us Face It...Are Leg Exercise Machines Really For You?
There are a growing number of leg exercise machines selling on our market today. Walk into any gym and you will find an assortment of machines that allow you to lift weight up, squeeze it back, and even squish it together with your inner thighs. Walk into any department store that sells workout equipment and you will find a variety of different machines targeted for the muscles of the lower body.
Let us face it... there is way too much to choose from.
It is confusing, frustrating and you never really know if the person selling it to you is doing it for the commission ,to meet their daily sales target, or because they genuinely think it is going to help you.
The question should not be about the best deal, the supposed fancy state of the art concept, or will you whack it on credit or lay by it... it should be about whether you actually need to purchase these leg exercise machines in the first place.
Answer the following quick questions and it may be a bit easier to come to this answer.
1. Do you have spare money to blow?
If leg exercise machines were cheap we would all have ten of them cluttering up our homes. The better quality leg exercise machines happen to be quite expensive and the lower priced ones are often extremely ineffective. So the question becomes whether you want to shell out a hundred bucks or potentially $1000 just to see if some piece of equipment will actually work.
In most cases, you do not have the money anyway and really should consider all of your alternatives before investing in your own leg exercise machines ,see question number five.
2. Is it specific to your lower body goals?
There is one little side effect of going a bit too crazy on most leg exercise machines. You end up with out of proportioned thighs and buttocks that do not seem to be on track with the goals you set out to achieve. If this is not the look you are going for, then you should jump down to question number five and see what your alternatives to using leg exercise machines are.
If an out of whack lower body is what you are after then, by all means, help yourself to some very intense sessions on some crazy leg exercise machine that you figured would solve your lower body problems.
But if you want slender legs that are toned and shapely then consider your alternatives first.
3. Do you have the space in your home for leg exercise machines?
Remember that purchasing your own leg exercise machines will take up space in your home. Some are larger than others, but you will have to think about where this machine will go and if you are willing to give up that space just to train your thighs and butt.
Do not have the room to spare? Check out number five to consider your options.
4. How much time do you have to spend on your new leg exercise machines?
How many times have you heard of friends or relatives purchasing expensive workout equipment only to turn it into a hanger for clothing and dust? Think honestly about how much time you have to workout on leg exercise machines and how likely you are to use this equipment on a regular basis.
Sure it is exciting getting wound up with the hype of some new piece of equipment that is supposedly going to turn your butt into the hot lower body that you saw in the commercial but deep down you know yourself you are probably not going to use it anywhere near as much as you're telling yourself in the sports store.
5. Do you have an alternative to purchasing leg exercise machines?
Yes! You always have alternatives to purchasing leg exercise equipment or investing in a gym membership to gain access to machines. Practically every move that can be accomplished on leg exercise machines can be performed with your own body weight.
If you want to use equipment, go for a good set of adjustable dumbbells and perhaps an exercise ball. That is really all you need to work your lower body and get great results.

What is better for your legs and butt? Elliptical machine or stationary bike?
Looking for the exercise machine that will give my legs and butt the best work out. I like both machines, but I usually do the elliptical. I am just wondering which gives a better work-out.
Elliptical machine is probably better as it is a better cardio workout because you are using both your arms and legs (so burning more calories and fat).
I know when I use the elliptical I can really feel it in my glutes (so I know it works the butt).
