back injury and muscle damage?
I injured my back a year ago or so, and the physio said at the time that the muscles on the right side of my spine had stopped working due to the injury and that was normal. I'm now much better, though I still do have pain, I go to pilates, and know from how I feel that those muscles still don't work. Is that normal, does it matter? It doesn't seem to affect what I do I guess, though I'm much stiffer than I used to be, only I'ld like to sort it out properly really, and don't know whether I should go back to the doctor- they weren't too interested the first time round, I only got a referral to a physio cos I asked, although I then had nearly 2 months of it!
Go to a GP and complain of back ache and stiffness.
Check that Pilates is suitable for your condition, in some cases it actually isn't.
Request a specialist consultancy with a spinal specialist / surgeon.
If all fails, turn up in the A&E with 'chronic backpain', they have to treat you.
Also look into back supports. I occasionally wear a corset to keep my back supported and ease any pain.
